The Effect of Using Buzz Group and Talking Chips Technique on Students’ Speaking Ability at Senior High School

This study deals with the effect of using controlled Buzz Group technique and Talking Chips on students’ speaking ability. The objectives are to find out ability which is most effective one. method that was used in this research quantitative through quasi-experimental incriminating three classes were experimental class 1, 2 control class, writer applied while without treatment. population eleventh-grade students SMA Kristen Kalam Kudus Medan. researcher 75 as sample. sample taken by cluster sampling technique, 25 from XI-1 XI-2 XI-3 class. To obtain data oral test. instruments gather pre-test & post-test scores calculated analyzed IBM SPSS 23.0. These tests consisted two types, namely post-test. result analyzing data, mean score for one (Buzz technique) 60.80 79.60. (Talking 50.12 74.24. 66.76 74.44. As ANOVA test, P= 0.00 < 0.05 or F count = 23.59 > table 2.28. It means hypothesis alternative (Ha) accepted null (Ho) rejected. In conclusion, Stick modestly asking giving opinion eleventh grade at Medan academic year 2022/2023 more than teaching skill. Based explanation above, can be chosen speaking.
